The Edu Royal Family of Epe, Lagos State, will mark the 100 years of their progenitor, Baale Burahimoh Edu, on Saturday, December 23, at the Government Field beside Epe Police Station, by 10am.
The late Edu was a prince from Onilegbale segment of the Akariobere white cap chieftaincy family of Lagos; the youngest of the royals who accompanied Oba Kosoko of Lagos to Epe in 1851. When Oba Kosoko returned to Lagos to ascend the throne, prince Edu stayed behind at Epe, married and sired numerous children, among whom was Lawani, father of late Chief S.L Edu and Asiata, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s great-grand-mother.
The program will begin today with a special Jumat service at Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun. The grand finale will come up at the Government Field, which will feature a reception, colloquium and award of honour on the late Chief S.L Edu and Governor Ambode.
